Absolute Hosting employs various technologies to keep your data and accounts safe from unauthorized access.
One of the methods used to keep your email accounts safe on our Windows SmarterMail email servers is known as IDS protection - a system that blocks unauthorized or suspicious IP addresses from connecting to the mail server(s) after a certain amount of failed login attempts.
Clients are mostly affected by these preventative security measures after changing a mail password or creating a new mail account on their devices, and the mail device attempts to access the mail server using incorrect credentials too many times.
During this time the originating IP Address is blocked from any further connections to mail server until the IP has been removed from the SmarterMail Email Server IDS list.
Follow the steps below to remove your IP address from the SmarterMail Email Server IDS list
Log in to the Absolute Hosting Client Service Area
On the Home page, click on to the Services Icon
On the My Products & Services page locate the Windows Web Hosting package associated with your email account (The search function can be used to narrow find a particular service or filter by product type, ie Windows)
Click on the Windows Hosting Package related to your blocked IP
On the Manage Product page, located within the Actions tab click the SmarterMail Unban link
On the SmarterMail Unban page enter the banned IP Address into the Unban IP on SmarterMail Servers section and click Unban
To get your IP Address browse to www.whatismyip.com, or in the case of a reseller - ask your client to provide you with their public IP Address
