We recommend that you set your website permissions to read only with exception to the the following folders :

/wp-content/uploads
/wp-content/plugins
/wp-content/themes

Note : If you are attempting to update WordPress then you will need to reset and grant write / modify permissions on the wwwroot directory for the Network Service user and your website user .
