RDP brute force attacks are common and unless RDP is secured, you run the risk of having your Windows Server compromised due to unauthorized access or denial of service.
Absolute Hosting recommends disabling RDP access to unknown and untrusted IP's and using our VPN Service to lock down access to RDP Services on your VPS Server.
This guide will walk you through the steps required to allow access from the Absolute Hosting VPN IP.
Order a VPN account from our store, and wait for the order to be manually approved and the login credentials sent through to you.
Once activated, you will be able to download the OpenVPN client and config files required to connect (refer to the service activation email for instructions specific to the VPN setup).
Whilst logged into your client service area, browse to Services and click on the Active button to the right of your VPS to manage the service

On the Manage Product page, scroll to Additional Tools and click the Firewall icon

Click the Add button to create a new firewall rule to allow RDP

On the Add Firewall Rule pop up window, add the following rule :
Click the Enable toggle
Source : 102.214.8.31
Protocol : 6 Transmission Control Protocol
Destination Port : 3389
Comment : Allow RDP from Absolute Hosting VPN Service
Click Add

Create a new firewall rule that blocks RDP connections from any source

Reposition your rules so that the allow rule is positioned above the reject rule.
